Write tests
Write it yourself
Skip the assistant and write the test as plain text; the tester plans from it at run time.
The plain editor#
In New test, choose Write the steps myself. Fill in:
- Title, for example "Add a product to the cart".
- Web, Android or iOS, and the Start URL (websites) or the app.
- What should the tester do and check? Plain English. One step or check per line works best. Say what counts as a pass.
1. Open the home page
2. Search for "linen shirt" and open the first result
3. Add it to the cart
4. Check the cart shows 1 item and the total equals the product priceShow options opens the test options and the sign-in accounts.
How it runs#
A text test has no confirmed checklist: on its first run the tester derives one from the text ("Derived by the tester") and follows it. A test with a plan from the assistant follows that plan as written instead. You can switch any time: Draft it with the assistant instead, or, when editing, Revise it with the assistant.
The editor refuses text that looks like it contains a password. Store the password as a sign-in account and name the account in the text instead.
